Optometrist, Dr. Joseph Wu, O.D.

Doctor Wu graduated from the University of California, San Diego in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry/Cell Biology and with a Minor in Psychology. He then completed his optometric training at Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO) in 2006, followed by a post-graduate residency in Primary Eye Care/Hospital-Based Geriatric Optometry at the Sepulveda VA Hospital in 2007. Dr. Wu is one of the few optometrist in the United States who has obtained the designation as a Medical Optometric Diplomate (MOD). This prestigious designation requires rigorous training and testing to be board certified in medical optometry by the American Board Certification of Medical Optometry (ABCMO).
In eye care, Doctor Wu has a special interest in vitreo-retinal diseases, glaucoma, and neuro-ophthalmic disorders. His published article, "Idiopathic Juxtafoveal Retinal Telangiectasia," appears in the November 2008 issue of Optometry, the Journal of the American Optometric Association. Doctor Wu is also a member of the California Optometric Association and the Orange County Optometric Society. He loves Optometry but when he is not practicing eye care, he enjoys golf and spending time with his pet beagle, "Bauer".
