Contacts for Astigmatism

Astigmatism is a common eye condition which causes fuzzy or blurred vision. This eye condition often occurs when the cornea is irregularly shaped. The irregularity in the cornea may be as a result of the curvature of the lens inside the eye.

Patients with astigmatism may not be able to wear regular contact lenses. Instead, they will need specially designed contact lenses. These contact lenses used for correcting astigmatism are referred to as toric contact lenses.

Toric contact lenses feature two prescriptions. While one prescription helps in correcting astigmatism, the other will correct near or farsightedness. If you are experiencing fuzzy or blurred vision due to your astigmatism, and you live near our Hartsdale eye care clinic, we have the ideal contact lens that can help you achieve sharper vision and increased comfort.

Multifocal Lenses

Multifocal lenses are suitable for patients that find it hard to carry out activities that require transitioning between near and distant objects. Multifocal lenses contain two or more lens powers to help you see distant objects after losing the ability to change your eye focus naturally. Patients with presbyopia, the natural condition that occurs with aging and is traditionally is fixed with reading glasses,  can take now enjoy easy reading with multifocal lenses. For kids with nearsightedness, multifocal contact lenses also offer the ability to slow down the progression and reduce the risk of eye disease later in life.

Scleral Lenses

Advances in lens design technology have made it possible for us to design custom scleral lenses that can improve vision for a variety of corneal diseases, dystrophies, and conditions.

The lenses are perfect to provide relief and comfort for patients with Keratoconus, Post Lasik Complications, Corneal irregularities, and severe dry eye among other conditions. Patients with keratoconus have exceptional results with Scleral lenses, both with their vision and comfort.

By wearing the lenses when you sleep at night, you will wake up with an excellent vision, without needing to wear glasses or contact lenses the whole next day! Ortho-K contacts are especially recommended for children that are nearsighted (have myopia) as they reduce the risk of eye disease associated with high levels of myopia.
